The proposed Sixth Street Protected Bike Lanes are under attack. Take action now.
Due to opposition from some merchants, Sixth Street between I-35 and Congress might NOT get protected bike lanes, as the City’s own plans call for. It’s time to tell City Council: Bike lanes on Sixth will improve safety AND help local businesses.
Help save the Sixth Street bike lanes by taking one or more of the following actions now:
1. Email (click below) and/or call your Council office (find your Council district)
Please consider BOTH emailing and calling
District 1: Natasha Harper-Madison (512-978-2101)
D2: Vanessa Fuentes (512-978-2102)
D3: José Velásquez (512-978-2103)
D4: Chito Vela (512-978-2104)
D5: Ryan Alter (512-978-2105)
D6: Krista Laine (512-978-2106)
D7: Mike Siegel (512-978-2107)
D8: Paige Ellis (512-978-2108)
D9: Zo Qadri (512-978-2109)
D10: Marc Duchen (512-978-2110)
What you could say: “I’m writing/calling to support protected bike lanes on Sixth Street downtown. [State why the Sixth St bike lanes are important to you.] Would the Council Member publicly support the bike lanes too?”
2. Contact Assistant City Manager (ACM) Mike Rogers
ACM Rogers is the main decision-maker on this issue. Email ACM Rogers via his assistants (click here) or call 512-974-7907.
3. Volunteer with the Sixth Street bike lanes campaign
We need your help to win this. Email adam@safestreetsaustin.org to get involved.
