Jeff Speck public talk: Toward a More Walkable Austin

  • St. David's Episcopal Church 301 East 8th Street Austin, TX 78701 United States (map)

Urban planner Jeff Speck shares how Austin can become more walkable, including by considering one-way to two-way street conversions.

A nationally renowned urban planner and Walkable City author, Jeff Speck will share his vision for a more walkable Austin — and what it will take to get there. Having helped cities across the U.S. revitalize their streets and downtowns, Jeff brings a powerful, practical perspective on how street design shapes urban life.

This talk is a part of a discussion led by Safe Streets Austin and the Congress For the New Urbanism Central Texas about transforming Austin's one-way streets to two-way, a proven strategy for restoring vitality, safety, and economic life on downtown streets.

After the talk, attendees may buy Jeff's books Walkable City and Walkable City Rules. Jeff will be available to sign the books. Thank you to Urban Austin Reads for supporting this book portion of the event.
